Watch Satellite TV Online
Both Satellite and Cable TV providers have long been at each other’s necks in terms of offering better value for money and premium service to their respective subscribers.
Cable providers argue that Satellite service is more expensive compared to theirs. While Satellite providers contend that Cable transmissions are not available in all areas and signal quality is not as good as a Satellite transmissions, because cable programs are transmitted in analog format.
Another area being ventured into by Satellite providers is ‘Online Satellite TV’ which allows a viewer to view online content streamed directly from a Satellite. And the good news is, some website offer the service either free or for a small fee.
Cable providers on the other hand, are also invading the Internet with their own version of online streaming, albeit in analog format as opposed to Satellite’s digital.
There is a wide variety of online Satellite content providers primarily from the US and Europe.
The advantage of viewing online TV shows either via Satellite or by Cable is that no additional equipment is required to make it work. The difference between the two is that the reception for a Satellite transmission is far superior to cables.
Unlike with a standard Satellite subscription, you no longer need to install a dish to receive the transmissions from the Satellite. The receiving station does all this work for you by acting as the recipient of the satellites transmission and then they stream the broadcast on the web for your convenience.
All you need is your home PC and broadband connection and you should be good to go!
Although your PC has to meet the minimum requirements since most Satellite feeds are LIVE streaming video. This demands a mid to high-end video graphics card and at least 512 MB of memory to handle the transmission load.
Your broadband connection should also be adequate enough to carry the load. If you can get a bandwidth of at least 700kb to 1 Mb from your broadband provider, that would be better.
If you are going to use a PC, make sure that you’re using an updated Operating system so that you get better picture quality. The more updated your operating system is, the better video drivers will be available on the PC. This will result in a crisper, fuller video image on the screen.
Some Operating systems or video graphics software will even allow you to attach an external monitor to your PC to extend your desktop. So if you want to attach a secondary monitor, like another computer monitor, LCD TV or even a projector it is possible.
Once the external monitor is attached, you can even customize it in such a way to have both monitors function as one, which means the image will be split between the 2 screens. Or have each monitor running independent of one another. This will then allow you to view 2 separate channels, one on each monitor at full screen! And again it’s free!
Online Satellite TV also offers a variety of content to suit each viewer’s preference. From TV shows, Music videos, documentaries, and even live footage of news clips you will find them all online streamed via satellite.
There is also a host of satellite viewing software that you can download from the Internet free of charge. Once it’s set you can go and watch all the Satellite TV you can handle at no additional cost.
The other added benefit of viewing Satellite TV online is its better video quality. And as long the signal from the broadcasting website has a clear line of sight to the sending satellite, you should be able to get hours of free, uninterrupted, high quality video on your desktop PC!
If there is any downside to Satellite broadcasting, it is that extreme cloud cover can cause signal interruption. Although this only occurs in certain areas, and at certain times, most notably during extreme weather conditions.
But since the service is free in most cases, as far accessing Satellite TV online is concerned, this is a minor inconvenience in an otherwise excellent idea.
